Subject: Coffee with a Cop

The Kensington Police Department is pleased to announce the start of our Coffee with a Cop program. We will start this program on National Coffee with a Cop Day, the first Wednesday in October. The goal will be for residents to meet and greet the men and women who protect and serve Kensington’s citizens.

The majority of law enforcement contacts with the public occur during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective time to build relationships. Coffee with a Cop aims to break down barriers and allow for relaxed interaction.

This is not a platform for agendas or speeches. We want to offer our residents the opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and know your police department and its members better.

I believe in community-oriented policing and have always wanted a stronger police department and community relationship. This is a step in that direction.
