Welcome to the Kensington Police Department. The Kensington Police Department is a small, unique full-service police agency serving the close-knit Kensington community.

Kensington Police Officers perform various services, including patrol response to crimes in progress, traffic enforcement, first aid, CPR, investigations, warrant and subpoena service, and many other law enforcement duties.

Limited Station Hours of Operation

KPD Officers are out in the community to provide services and patrols and are not typically at the station. On the weekends, please call APD Dispatch (510-525-7573) if you need to meet with an officer at the Kensington Police Department (10940 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530).  Regular station hours are:

  • District Business Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.                                                                          
  • After Hours/Weekends: please call APD Dispatch (510-525-7573) or contact us online.

 

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: Arlington Avenue Road Temporary Closures for Parade ⚠️ 

On Sunday October 19, 2025, Arlington Avenue will be restricted intermittently to northbound traffic between 304 Arlington Ave and 59 Arlington Ave from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM for a community parade.
 
All side streets intersecting Arlington Avenue along this stretch will have rolling temporary road closures lasting approximately 10-15 minutes beginning at 10:45 AM. We anticipate full roadway access expected to be restored by 1:30 PM.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during this period and expect delays for 10-15 minutes.


Parade procession will be led by Kensington Police Department, followed by parade participants, with Kensington / El Cerrito Fire Department providing rear support.
