Courts

Tennis Court

A fenced tennis court in a park with trees, swings, and a clear blue sky.

Kensington offers two full-size tennis courts and a practice backboard for public use. The courts are located in the park at 59 Arlington Avenue, Kensington.

On weekdays, the court is available on a first-come, first-served basis, except during hours designated for KASEP.

On weekends, courts may be reserved for one hour between 8:00 AM and sundown.

Reservations must be made at least five days in advance and may only be secured on a midweek day through our RecDesk reservation system.

Example: If you would like to reserve a court for Saturday or Sunday and it is already Thursday, please call (510) 526-4141 before 1:30 PM for assistance. Our office staff can add the reservation for that weekend, as the office is closed on Fridays. RecDesk system will not accept reservations when the required advance notice period cannot be met.

Please note that tennis court reservations are strictly for tennis games only. The courts are not to be used for biking, rollerblading, or skateboarding—there are no exceptions, even if you have a picnic reservation. Misusing the courts can cause significant surface damage, leading to scratches, scuffs, and potential wear to the acrylic coating. This coating is not designed to withstand the pressure and movement of wheeled activities other than tennis shoes. If you observe improper use of the courts, please contact Kensington police assistance at 510-525-7573 or 510-526-4141.

 Pickleball Court

The pickleball court is located just south of the tennis courts and west of the basketball court in Kensington Park. The court is available for reservation for one hour, from 8 AM to sundown. Please note that reservations for midweek play must be made at least five days in advance.  On weekdays, the court operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception of hours designated for Kensington After School Enrichment Program, as so known as KASEP.

Reservation Fee

- $10 per hour for Residents

- $12 per hour for Non-Residents
